Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has responded to a current claim by General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd) that late warlord Odumegwu Ojukwu’s falsehoods caused a common war. This is contained in a statement by BNYL Leader, Princewill Obuka.

It said history recorded that Ojukwu won in the Aburi Conference which Gowon and the Supreme Military Council acknowledged with confidence. “Being a stark illiterate then, he didn’t comprehend what Confederation was about until the point when he was advised amid his arrival to Lagos”, the gathering noted.

“The former Head of State being a lesser to Ojukwu should help us to remember the Aburi Accord where he flopped woefully”, he included. Obuka further focused on that the war was caused by the disappointment of Gowon and the Supreme Military Council and that it “was precisely arranged”

So also, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has responded to Gowon’s remark. IPOB portrayed the claim by the former Head of State as a “bundle of misrepresentation.”

The gathering demanded that history has it “archived on granite that Gowon reneged on Aburi Agreements” since he was “guaranteed by a specific provincial power that Ojukwu’s people ought to be squashed militarily.”

IPOB kept up that Gowon “butchered more than 3 million Biafrans to join Nigeria in light of unrefined petroleum and gas not out of patriotism.”
